With years of experience, knowledge has been gained around customers, operations, productivity, merchandise, regulations and costs to name a few planning factors which has led GJS Design to be able to create a fully functional Retail store within a designated location.

RETAIL PLANNING CASE STUDIES

CASE STUDY 1 - FEASIBILITY PLANNING

Feasibility Planning is to determine the potential for an existing unit to be converted and redeveloped into a new trading space for Retail, Office or Housing Development. GJS Design have worked with various acquisition clients to design new concepts within all 3 of these areas, but they are specially trained within the Retail Sector. GJS were initially trained and skilled during the time that Tesco Express began to grow across the UK opening new stores on a weekly basis. The demand for fast growth and successful trading placed the GJS team under great pressure to be productive and know all the potential challenges involved with trading within the Retail Market. Tesco Express is now one of the leading convenient stores being a statue within local communities.

Utilising the years of experience within Feasibility Planning GJS have been acquired by several clients to develop Retail Stores across the UK and Ireland and the Case Study displayed is a Phase 1 development scheme that continued to grow into a fully trading successful store. Originally trading as the Playwright Public House GJS were given the structural details of the existing unit and tasked to convert the PH into a Trading Retail Store. Utilising the knowledge developed over years of experience GJS calculated the trading spaces required and went to work adapting this space into a Retail Store. Taking into consideration the trading figures expected by the client and the various range they wanted to offer GJS designed the core elements for the future store. Consideration must always be taken as a customer as well as the client when designing Retail stores.

This initial design concept was given to the client with details of the operation proposed by GJS and was agreed and developed into a trading store that has become a huge hit with the locals within Blackrock Dublin and has since won awards for the design and offers available within the store.

CASE STUDY 2 - REFRESH & REFURBISH

As time goes by everything needs to be Refreshed and Refurbished from redecorating your home to getting a new haircut, its always good to keep up with the latest fashions and trends. Within the Retail Sector this is always a key element to keep your stores up to date, looking fresh and adapting to the new technologies. The opportunity to Refresh & Refurbish can improve the customer and colleague experience along with keeping the business running as productive as possible.

GJS were tasked with a Refresh Project covering a number of stores for Tesco Ireland. A survey of all existing equipment was initially required followed by scoping the store to determine opportunities to improve many aspects of the existing store layout. Utilising store sales data, customer reviews and new initiatives GJS had the relevant data to re-design a new shopping experience for customers and working experience for colleagues. To help support with the installations all design changes used a colour coded template to easily determine specific equipment and all schemes were accompanied with a clear Scope of Works.

New fixtures, specific merchandise range and improved technologies all led to new and improved Retail Stores across the estate.
